Featuring Members of the Boston Hoop Troop: Marria Grace, Ammon EP & Patricia Bunny Rabbit. Come learn the graceful art of hoop dance or learn some advanced moves & tricks. Beginners Hoop Dance Series dates: 6/5/08, 6/12/08, 6/26/08, 7/10/08, 7/17/08, & 7/24/08. Come learn the graceful and exciting art of Hoop Dance with Marria Grace of the Boston Hoop Troop. Beginning on Thursday evenings in June and running until the end of July, will be a six week Beginners Hoop Dance series. The classes will cater to the beginner and transform you into an intermediate level hooper. You will get very comfortable with the basics, learn new tricks & incorporate them into dance. Afro-Jazz Repertory Workshop Series with Marianne Harkless

Tuesdays, June 24th - August 12th, 6:00-7:30pm

Performance & Potluck Picnic on Saturday, August 16, 6:30 p.m. This workshop is designed for students who are interested in preparing a dance piece for performance. This is an opportunity to work on one piece of choreography and take it further than is normally done in class. Please arrive warmed up and ready to dance. The entire class will be spent working on choreography. Afro-Jazz dance incorporates elements of West African, Afro-Brazilian, Caribbean, modern and jazz dance styles. We will work closely with the music to explore different rhythms, and how to bring out accents in the music through movement. Workshop & Performance: $96. Two Flamenco master classes per day with Nino de los Reyes: Monday - Beg. 6-7:30pm, Int/Adv 8-9:30pm Tuesday - Beg. 6:30-8pm, Int/Adv 8-9:30 Wednesday - Beg. 6-7:30pm, Int/Adv 8-9:30pm, Thursday - Beg. 7-8:30pm, Int/Adv 8:30-9:30 Friday - Beg. 6-7pm, Int/Adv 7-8pm Saturday - Beg. 1:30-3pm, Int/Adv 3-4:30pm Sunday - Beg. 10:30am-12noon, Int/Adv 12noon-1:30pm.

Tuition: Beginner Classes - 7 classes for $200.00, Intermediate/Advanced Classes - 7 classes for $190.00. Individual classes: 1 hour for $20.00, 1.5 hour for $30.00. Dharma Jam Workshop Series with Dharma Dance

4 Mondays, 8-9:30pm, September 15, October 20, November 17, & December 22

One Monday a month, Dharma Jams are practice in motion; containers for human awareness enjoyed though movement and Buddhist insight, supported by improvisational dance. Recognizing the power of dance as an amazing medium for celebration, prayer, and insight, we gather to support each other on our dharma paths. Jam elements include brief dharma teachings, seated and moving meditations, council, hip-hop warm-ups, and creative movement structures (although most of our time is reserved for free-form dance). Sessions are facilitated by Harrison Blumb, founder of Dharma Dance Company. The DJ soundscapes range from ambient electronics to beat-thumping hip-hop, from spacious female vocals to instrumental jams. Embarking from a calm invitation, the energy builds, ebbs and flows, pours, pounds, and returns us gently into stillness.

Jam fee is $7-$10, sliding scale. Please bring a cushion, water bottle and comfortable clothing (no street shoes). No dance, meditation, or Buddhism experience needed, just bring an open mind. For more information about Dharma Dance or Harrison Blumb visit www.dharmadancecompany.org
