Each year, The Dance Complex throws open the doors of its historic building, located in the heart of Central Square’s Cultural District, inviting artists of all kinds to join together in a celebration of dance, movement, and all arts during the Festival of Us, You, We & Them. This year’s festival will take place on June 21, 22, & 23- the culmination of a Month long celebration of our community.
At The Dance Complex, we celebrate each person’s next deep step into movement-whether that is taking a 1st or 151st dance class, creating new works, collaborating with new artists, performing on stage and everything between and beyond. Through this Festival we encourage artists to find new collaborators, present works-in-progress, lead new workshops, hold open rehearsals, demonstrate new styles, blend movement and new mediums, and provide accessibility for every body to join in the dance.
Much like last year, proposals may be accepted into a time block that will be shared among complementary artists, thus expanding the potential audience and impact of the work. Accepted artists will be asked to work collaboratively with festival staff and the artists sharing their designated time to create a plan to maximize the quality and impact of their time block. (This can be as simple as: Company A performs dance 1; Company B follows with a participatory audience engagement; both Companies watch and participate together, etc.
The Festival of Us, You, We & Them is designed to be open and free to the public, inviting everyone to join us in movement. It is designed to give you/your company exposure to the Cambridge community through professional marketing strategies and public presentations and an introduction of your work to The Dance Complex community.
If you are interested in joining us (and we hope that you are), please complete the Request for Proposal at dancecomplex.org by February 10, 2019.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss a proposal, please contact Rachel at rachel@dancecomplex.org.
We look forward to hearing from you!
