Dear Dance Complex Community,
The Dance Complex will be closed Monday, March 16 – Sunday, March 29. The ongoing concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19), pose unique challenges to The Dance Complex, requiring creative solutions. We are moving quickly to address these challenges, given the rapidly changing nature of the outbreak. We will carefully reassess the situation in the coming weeks and share updates as they become available.
This decision was made in consultation with local and national arts agencies, city government, the Central Business Improvement District, our board, and staff. We would like our community to know that our decisions were made with extreme care and influenced by the most current information from leading health officials. We believe that our building is as safe as it can be while we keep up with all of the state and government guidelines.
While The Dance Complex is closed during this period, we are researching online class models and working with Teaching Artists to help them create online content. The Dance Complex’s staff will be working remotely during their regularly scheduled hours, investing their time to continue supporting dance as we deal with the daily fluctuations of the crisis. The Dance Complex security and cleaning systems will be fully maintained ensuring the safety of all who return to the building. The health of our students, teachers, choreographers, dancers, movers, staff, and volunteers are our top priority, and we will continue to monitor new developments closely.
We are a non-profit organization that supports countless freelance artists. We ask that you please continue supporting your teachers and the organization (The Dance Complex) that supports them. We will realize an approximate $20,000 loss per week that we are closed, and with over 80% of our income going back into our programming, $16,800 of that money goes back to our artists.
If you would like to reach out to us anonymously regarding your health status, please don’t hesitate to use our confidential email operations@dancecomplex.org. We are confident that we will find creative ways to function as a community and to support each other.
Please continue to check our website for additional updates.
