What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Street style dancing in South Africa was first formally recognised in the 1950`s in the townships where settlers forcibly moved black people from their land to informal settlements through all that people carved a new society, music and dance and legacies.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Buyile Toyvo Narwele is a professional dancer from Nyanga, Cape Town, South Africa works as a consulting choreographer, dancer, and teaches other artistic freelance work that explores movement in AfroFusion, Neoclassical, and South African Street Style dance while currently practicing Kwaito studio workshops.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

kwaito is the heartbeat of South African street tradition that can be found in music, streetwear and language so this becomes a medium of expression to share.
