Joe Juknievich is a freelance theatre artist and arts administrator based in Boston, Massachusetts and a Founding Co-Artistic Director of Entropy Theatre. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts: Performance Creation at Goddard College. In addition to his work with Entropy Theatre (a grimm thing, The Rocky Horror Show, The Moors, The Skriker, Entropy Fest), he has directed for Exiled Theatre (James Wilkinson’s Nurse Play, nominated for 3 IRNE Awards, including Best New Play), the Firehouse Center for the Arts (Jesus Christ Superstar, and [title of show]), UMASS Lowell (Perfect Arrangement), and Praxis Stage (All My Sons). He has also directed readings and other small projects for SpeakEasy Stage Company (an early reading of MJ Halberstadt’s The Usual Unusual), and UMASS Lowell (MJ Halberstadt’s (We Are) the Antarcticans). Assistant Directing credits include shows produced by SpeakEasy Stage Company (Allegiance) and Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (Measure for Measure -staged reading, and The Tempest -Apprentice Program).
While completing his B.A. at the University of New Hampshire, he frequently directed and collaborated on shows produced by the Mask and Dagger Dramatic Society, for which he was recognized as a semi-finalist in the SDC Initiative at the Region 1 American College Theatre Festival, and also directed for the Actorsingers of Nashua for which he was nominated for Best Director of a Community Theater Musical (New Hampshire Theatre Awards). During the 2017-2018 season, he worked as SpeakEasy Stage Company’s Artistic Fellow, coordinating casting calls, and assisting with literary and programmatic initiatives. In 2019, his production of Praxis Stage’s All My Sons was nominated by the Elliott Norton Awards for Best Ensemble.
