Remembering Dennis Goldsmith

Dear Dance Complex Community,

Dennis Goldsmith has been more than a mentor and teacher – he has been a guiding force in the lives of so many. As a dedicated Tae Kwon Do and fitness instructor, he has shaped the minds and spirits of children and adults alike, instilling discipline, perseverance, and kindness.

Last October, Dennis was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away Monday, April 14th, due to post-surgical complications. Family and friends are heartbroken by this loss and are grieving together during this difficult time.

Dennis has been a Teaching Artist with The DC for over 20 years, gracing our building with his dedication, care, and knowledge. Dennis moved to Cambridge in 1979 to pursue graduate studies at Harvard University. He was a highly skilled fitness professional, holding certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), and in CPR and AED instruction. Dennis was a United States Armed Forces veteran. While stationed in Korea, he began his training in Tae Kwon Do under the guidance of Grandmaster Ozzie Wright Jr, advancing to a Blue belt before returning to the US.

Dennis has received many accolades throughout his life. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2018 and received a proclamation from the City of Cambridge for his contributions to the community in 2024.

A GoFundMe fundraiser was created to support Dennis during his recovery. The campaign has now been updated to support his family during this time:

In this time of mourning, The Dance Complex will offer a tribute to Dennis in the main lobby area of our Central Square home. Community members are welcome to share memories, bring flowers, and recognize the significant impacts Dennis made in the Cambridge community.
