What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Boston Bollywood celebrates the majestic entertainment powerhouse: Bollywood, the Indian film industry. It is a tribute to all the artists whose combined talent and perseverance makes Bollywood the huge production house it is today. ​​By drawing inspiration from their work, the aim of Boston Bollywood is to delight our dancers with dance forms rooted in South Asian classical, contemporary and folk styles.

 

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Swati, Founder and Artistic Director of Boston Bollywood LLC, has been trained in Bharatnatyam and Rajasthani Folk dance. She has choreographed Bollywood numbers for five seasons of OnStage Dance Company and has taught numerous Bollywood workshops around the Greater Boston Area. She has been a guest choreographer for the WOD Ensemble production at Endicott College and has guest lectured about the significance of Indian Classical dance styles and Bollywood as a contemporary global dance form.
