Classes at Roots & Routes: Community Contemporary
2024/25 The DC Presents
About Community Contemporary:
Community Contemporary is rooted in The Click’s mission to redefine rigor. Yes: dance can be highly technical and physically demanding. And yes: art can be very intellectual and nuanced. But most importantly: contemporary forms can be all of this, and more… and we can have FUN while we explore all of it. That is the type of rigor we are looking for. Community Contemporary is an opportunity for all levels of movers to dive into improvisation, technique, and play while fostering relationships new and old, thus creating and/or expanding their creative community. If you are looking for a supportive environment to animate and excite the tiny inner child dancer within you: this class is it, regardless of your prior experience with dance. This class will be taught be Kristin Wagner. |
About The Click and Kristin Wagner:
The Click is a collaborative group of professional dance artists living, making, teaching, and studying in the Greater Boston area. We are a group of professional contemporary dancers creating and presenting meaningful and accessible arts experiences. The Click offers Contemporary advanced/professional level contemporary classes as well as community-based classes taught by our founding members who have studied and taught contemporary dance and movement across the country and internationally. Our mission is to contribute to the consistent creation, performance, and growth of contemporary dance in both professional and educational spaces across Massachusetts.
Kristin Wagner is a mover based in the Greater Boston and Worcester areas. Since 2012, Kristin has been performing with a number of local contemporary dance theater companies and freelance choreographers, most notably: KAIROS Dance Theater, Peter DiMuro/Public Displays of Motion, and Chavi Bansal/Vimoksha Dance. As “Decent Dance”, Kristin – with partner Tony Guglietti – creates accessible contemporary performance works that dabble in comedy, dramedy, and all things silly, sweet and true. Kristin also creates work independently under the umbrella “Bodies Moving” and as part of “The Click.” Over the past decade, Kristin has had the honor of performing on stages at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Boston Center for the Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Jordan Hall, The Dance Complex, and Green Street Studios, among others. Her choreographic work has been presented across the Northeast, including at the Salem Arts Festival, The Dance Complex, Tufts University, AS220, the Boston Center for the Arts Mills Gallery, and the Maine International Film Festival, among others. |
