Cuban Fusion Footwork & Body Movement with Takechi and Anara

What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Cuban Salsa (AKA Casino) and Rueda were created in Cuba in the late 1950s, and spread across the entire island in the decades that followed. They are still the most popular styles of dance on the island today, with people of all ages loving the music and the movement, and the fact that there are many ways to dance to it–solo, in partners and in groups!

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Takechi was born and raised in Santiago de Cuba and has been dancing since he was a child. He has performed with the top dance companies in his city, and is widely recognized for his abilities as a dancer, musician and instructor. Anara was born and raised in the Boston area, but has spent much of her life in Cuba. She is known for her unique teaching technique that has helped thousands of students advance more quickly than they ever thought possible. They are thrilled to bring the uplifting and energetic style of their teaching partnership to the Boston area for the first time!

What can students expect from this class?

In the workshops with Anara and Takechi, participants can expect an immersive experience led by two exceptional instructors, specifically designed for experienced Casino, Salsa & Rueda dancers! Each workshop will include a reflection on the history behind the dances, as well as key training techniques that will help each dancer take their training to the next level. Their contagious positive energy and shared philosophy of community-building are infused into every workshop, as they share the joy they feel each time they move to the music!

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

it brings incredible joy and connection to the participants as they work together to accomplish new partner & group moves… and we have a deep love for the music and the history of these styles, and the people who created and kept this style alive for so many years!
