What can students expect from this class?

This class will take students thru the basic steps, movements & terminology of hula. We will utilize these steps & movements in learning hula choreographies. (Translations of hula songs will be provided). Students should have prior experience with hula technique.

What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Hawaiian hula, long a vital aspect of Hawaiian culture is a story telling dance form that portrays Hawaiian myths, the history of Hawaiian culture and the beauty of nature.

 

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Marta Moussa studied hula with the late Kumu Hula Rose Kapalani Joshua and Kumu Hula Keith Awai both of Honolulu, Hawaii. (kumu hula: recognized hula master).
