Intermediate/Advanced Ballet

What can students expect from this class?

I understand that ballet class means different things to different people. Some are interested in gaining classical ballet technique and find that the strength, agility, balance, and coordination practiced in each class sets them up for all the challenges they may face in their day. Others already have a strong command of classical technique, and are looking to warm up their bodies for a day of rehearsing and performing. A dancer recovering from injury may want to hear a different voice, gain some new insight into their technique, and come back stronger. For some, moving to live music, being in the studio with friends and colleagues, working on choreography that expresses something that can’t be said with words is comforting and fulfilling. As a teacher I enjoy the challenge of balancing all of these needs and strive to share exercises, choreography, and movement, in collaboration with a talented musician, to get each artist closer to their goals for their class, their day, and their practice.

People in this intermediate/advanced level ballet class can expect a thorough warm-up, a study in classical ballet’s lines and shapes, challenging changes of weight, quick changes of direction, and interesting musicality with the support and collaboration of the brilliant accompanist Raht Ketusingha.
