What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

Boston Bollywood celebrates the majestic entertainment powerhouse: Bollywood, the Indian film industry. It is a tribute to all the artists whose combined talent and perseverance makes Bollywood the huge production house it is today. By drawing inspiration from their work, the aim of Boston Bollywood is to delight our dancers with dance forms rooted in South Asian classical, contemporary and folk styles. This class series is a brief introduction to the various genres that are practiced under the South Asian Dance umbrella.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Each one of our choreographers is trained in either South Asian classical dance styles like Bharatnatyam/Kathak/Odissi and/or folk dance styles or have fused South Asian styles with western styles like Hip-hop/House/Latin dance styles.
