iWitness is an embodied inquiry process. We’ll tune in, bring our senses online, and stimulate creativity through movement, dance, free expression and musical inspiration. We’ll collect-and-reflect on paper (visual), the page (written), and with one another (community). Expect to move and to get messy with drawing materials, often simultaneously. Bring your journal. The theme for iWitness Winter 2025 ~ Resist . ReSource . Rest.

What is the legacy of the genre/form/style you are teaching?

iWitness bridges multiple arts-based modalities often reflected in Expressive Art Therapies. Think Authentic Movement-meets-Open Studio Process-meets Segni Mossi, and through the lens of Julianne’s 20+ years facilitating somatic movement and expressive writing.

What background, training, and or relationship do you have with this style/technique/class subject?

Julianne is an Expressive Arts Therapist with 20+ years experience in facilitating and training somatic movement approaches. She holds the MFA in Creative Writing and is a Senior Lecturer for Lesley University.

Finish this statement: I am passionate about teaching this style because…

……iWitness germinated from my own personal body-based/art-based inquiry practice. Our bodies hold intrinsic wisdom. When we allow for free expression without judgment, we open the door to our inner witness – gaining in-sight through movement and stillness – and capturing it through symbol, sensation, narrative, the poetic and the aesthetic.
