Jennifer Nugent and Paul Matteson are coming to The Dance Complex this weekend for three days of performance, teaching, and talking…and we are so excited!

Nugent and Matteson will kick the weekend off by performing as guest artists at the Friday, November 16th’s The Davis Sisters Present: Ethel! This performance, a music and dance cabaret driven by the search for a lost Ethel Merman disco record, includes performances by Joy and Alex Davis, Brian Calhoon’s Marimba Cabaret with Ariel Strasser, Michael Winward, Emily Ruskowski Comedy, and Subject:Matter Tap. Music begins at 8pm, and the dancing begins at 9pm. Tickets for Ethel! are available HERE.

The weekend will continue with three workshops taught both individually and jointly by Nugent & Matteson:

Technique Master Class with Jennifer Nugent | November 17th 2-4PM
Technique Master Class with Paul Matteson | November 18th 10AM-12PM
Partnering Master Class with Jennifer Nugent & Paul Matteson | November 18th 1-3PM
Workshop registration is available HERE.
On both Saturday and Sunday nights, the two will make the Boston premier of their latest work another piece apart. Both Bessie Award-winning performers and former Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company dancers (2009-2014), Jennifer Nugent and Paul Matteson are known for their phenomenal partnering work, creating duets that are intense, forceful, and passionate. Their latest duet, another piece apart, reflects on a history of a fractured togetherness and blurred boundaries. The movement tones and fluxes in and out of knotted touch. Tickets for the performance are available HERE.
Ahead of their premier of another piece apart last month, Nugent and Matteson sat down for an interview with the tremendous Bill T. Jones with New York Live Arts, where they shared more about their relationship, the inspiration behind and the process of development of the new work. You can watch that interview on Youtube HERE.
Love hearing them talk about their work, lives, and relationship? We’ll be sitting down with Nugent and Matteson before their Sunday evening performance for a BEE dance pre-show conversation beginning at 6pm. When you attend this free conversation, your adult beverage at the performance to follow will be on us.
Now, get yourself registered and purchase your tickets. We can’t wait to share this weekend with you!
