The Dance Complex is many things to many people.

We are integral in the movement lives of a wide range of people, supporting a community of all ages and all cultures, engaging students, teachers, audiences, dance makers and practitioners.

We are an engaged member of our neighborhood and simultaneously contribute to the advancement of  the multidimensional world of dance. Leading up to, throughout, and now beyond our 25th Anniversary, we have been active in creating opportunities for dialogue nationally, regionally, and with subsets of our community about how we continue to evolve.

The time has come to bring these conversations to a shared perspective and articulation so we can inform our next deep steps for the coming years. We invite you to join us for a series of community meetings throughout the Fall. Each meeting will offer an in-depth exploration of a few specific topics through guided and guest facilitated conversations. The format of dialogue, along with topics of each meeting will be published on our website in advance.

Our goal is to present a cohesive State of The Dance Complex, that will consist of three parts: 1) an updated articulation of our mission, values and aspirations as an organization and community; 2) a cohesive and comprehensive document on our policies and procedures, which we will continue to revise over time; and 3) a cataloguing of longer-term goals that reflect our current and planned development (1- 3 years in advance) in education, performance, professional (dancer, teacher and dance maker) development. We will work on this, using the three conversations among us in the fall, to complete this and offer back to the community by April, 2019.

We invite all members of the greater dance community to join us for one, or all, of these meetings.  We seek your feedback and engaged conversation as we look to identify our next deep steps.

Previous community meetings were held on September 29th 12-2PM, October 23rd 7:30-9:30PM, Wednesday, November 28th, 9:00 – 11:00AM, Wednesday, December 5th 8:30-10PM, and February 2nd 2-4:30PM.

Following this series of meetings and presentation of the New State of The Dance Complex, we plan to hold another meeting in September 2019. This will allow us to check in as a community and assess our progress toward longer-term goals.
